Red River Fishing Report May 10,2008
« on: May 10, 2008, 09:10:15 PM »

Fished the RMTT today the bite was light and slow. Caught three (7.19) and lost one ? 5lb before my trolling motor broke. Also be careful going into McDade, rip bottom of my boat on rebar i think. The only thing we coukd get bit on was jigs.

Which one is McDades? I know most places in the area, just might not know it as McDades.

North of Clarks pocket, South of Whitehouse. Same side of river as both.

We fished the RMTT also...Day started great when pard boated a nice one around 4.5.....then I lost one about the same...then caught a gou....then nothing for a while....

Pard did boat another keeper and I finally boated another around 3 pounds....that was it for us and weighed 8.81 with the three fish...Most fish came on jigs..Fished Bobo's, McDade, and White House...

Winning weights on A side was 18+...not sure what it took to get a check but there were many 15+ strings......Winning on B side was 16+ and plenty of 15+ stings there also...B/B on B side was 6+..not sure B/B on A side..

Next RMTT will be on T. Bend June 14 and will be a trailer tournament..

After trashing my impeller during a severe brainfart and replacing the impeller yesterday Bryant and I made it out to the river, launched out of RR South Marina and zipped up to Coolies.  Fished from about 4pm to 7pm, it was nice being the only boat in there for a change...lol.  The overcast skies and cool strong breeze had me a little worried but after 2 months of no fishing, we stayed, ended up catching a couple 1 dink and one about 2.5lbs on a crankbait, Bryant landed a pretty big grintle on his texas rigged lizard.  Pretty slow but was happy to be on the water.  I forgot to check water temps, but water was stained and the wind was strong...lol.

Beagle,

Thanks for the directions.

Kent

It can be tuff getting in there with the river falling....many stumps that are hard to avoid...

My boat is also in the shop with a hole in it also....and dealer doesn't think it can be fixed without future problems in same area....so waiting on insurance agent to take a look at it now..... :(

I believe it actually happened coming out of McDade....really got on top of stumps hard in McDade and hit some going into White House too so not positive where it actually happened.....I noticed the water just beginning to come above the deck below drivers console  when I started leaving White House.....lifted up back opening and water was nearly to top of batteries......of course my cell phone was already soaked..... >:(

At least I had a bilge pump that worked this time.. lo

Waiting on insurance now....my boat can't be fixed and guaranteed to last and not leak again...and Triton doesn't make the Mag186 any longer nor do they make another bass type metal boat that will accept my 150...so they are going to total my boat...the whole thing...

So......

2008 Triton TR 186 with '08 150 Optimax.....mine will be white.... :)

Life is good.... ~roflmao

Wow, that's a good deal. Make it a LE-186 and you'd be golden. ;)

Scottie,

You are going to love that TR186. Glad to see you are finally stepping into a fiberglass boat. You are going to love how much more stable that fishes in the wind compared to the aluminum boats. Every time I think about upgrading to a bigger boat I think about how good my 05 TR186 has been to me over the last three years and also the larger boat payment and those thoughts disappear real fast.

It's Triton's fault cause they don't make that one any more....

And then made that TR 186 just too pretty.... :)

Congrats on the new ride Scotty. I was thinking that you had caught all of the big ones out of that old one anyway, so it was time for a new one! ~gf
