Funny thing ! I've been to Naples a couple of times ! Story go's like this ! My sister call's and say's that her oldest son is getting married and that the wedding is going to be in Naples ! I"am thinking why in the He## in Naples ? Their from Va ! The Girl that he met in school " Va Tech "  was from N.Y. But her grandfather and Grandmother are from Naples ! and that they owned a Hotel down there and they wanted their Only granddaughter to be married there ! I"am thinking all of our familys have to make a long trip ! Well a couple of weeks go by and the wife tells me we got a letter from Naples Golf and Beach club that stated that we have a room for the week of the wedding all paid for !  Come to find out as Rod White would say  Grand daddy Is Looooooooooaaaaaaaddddddeeeeeedddddd !    Well we get there and here is a bunch of true southern Va's  and a bunch of true Itaian"s and I mean true !  Over half of them flew in from Itlay for the wedding did'nt know if it was a wedding or a family reunion  lo  It was a great wedding and have a new member to our Family !

Ok what is the count up to now? Well add another to the pack. I have a very nice 1989 206 DL with a 1990 Mariner 200. Not sure how fast it will run as I DO NOT have GPS yet but the boat speedo said 61 on sunday and wasn't WOT yet. I can still over rev to about 6100 RPM so thinking of going from a Trophy Plus 24 pitch to a 25 pitch just not sure I want to sacrafice my holeshot that much.

Add another one. Run a 2000, 2100 Intimidator DC 225. Still scared of it. Was hoping for some chinewalking advice, but the Gambler boards seem to be a little on the empty side. Guess I'll have to moonlight on another boats site.

Add me to the list of happy Gambler owners with a 2005, 2200 with Merc 300x   I noted some comments about chine walking and thought I would jump on board.  I could be wrong but I will state that if a boat can go fast enough it will chine walk if you allow it to.   Some boats a more prone to the problem.  I know my old Stratos would start to do it's top speed of 74 mph ( speedometer reading probably not very accurate ).  This boat starts to do it at 80 per GPS so the hull design must be somewhat better that the 1988 Stratos was.  To get past that speed you need to learn how to steer it.  The ex-pro racer that sold me this brand new boat that I ordered from the factory ordered the eng. from Mercury's racing factory.  He had me out on the lake a few times before I got the hang of steering this beast.   Gamblers are not in the same speed league with Bullets, Allison's or Strokers, because they are not nearly as light a boat. I am sure any of those boats with 250's on them will give me a hard time.   I am sure that there owners of those brands will say there boats handle waves well but if you gain speed because of a light weight you loose comfort.  Now this is just personal opinion,......but while there are other sharp looking brands of boats out there, I now I would not trade a Gamblers looks for any of them.  My boat has a 10" Bob's machine shop hydraulic jack plate with and additional 2" of set for 12" total.   This engine has the racing sport master bottom end with the water pick up below the bottom of the horizontal prop shaft.    I  won't state my top end speed because if I do someone will come back and say mine is faster, and very well may be, because I am sure there are faster ones,.. and better drivers.   But I will leave you with this.  In Jan of 2005 Bass and Walleye tasted two of these Gambler boats.   One had a 300 Yamaha and the other had a Merc. 300X.  The Merc. running 6500 RPM ( 450 below red line ) fitted with stock trophy 26" prop with two guys in the boat ran a top end of 89.4   The Yamaha at red line RPM ran an 83 mph.   At 6150 RPM the Yamaha, well above advertised RPM, ran a top end speed of 87.6 mph.  I still have a trophy 26" as my spare but gain top end speed with my 28" Pro ET.   I'm sure there are faster Merc's and Yamaha's out there.  I also noted that someone stated on this site that Gamblers come out oh the hole slow.  Yes I have seen boats come out of the hole quicker than mine probably because they have a prop pitch for that purpose, but they give up top end performance.   I don't know what year Gambler added the trim plates to the boat but they sure get you up on plane quickly.  In case I have not made my point,..... I love my Gambler and my Merc 300X.  It never fails to get comments at Lake Fork.  The last guy with his Champion asked me if I was going fishing, or racing.

I am a new owner of a late model Gambler.  I am completely redoing this boat.  It is a single console.
1.  New Gel coat
2.  New Trolling motor
3.  New Batteries
4.  New Carpet
5.  New Seats
6.  HDS-5 w/structure scan (mounted in the dash)
7.  All new wiring from trolling motor to dash to gas tank compartment
8.  New bilge pump
9.  New live well pumps
10. Hydrodynamics 10" jack plate
11. New Steering wheel
12. New Hydraulic steering
13. New retractable cleats

I have some before and after pics(not done yet).  Still have a long way to go (ALOT of wet sanding yet to do).

By the way, if you are looking to bling out your Gambler, check out www.uniqueboatproducts.com

I am using many parts from this site, he does great work.

I am looking for a good used Mercury 225 XS or 250 XS for this setup
