Topic: New Siggy Restrictions Effective 15 August 06 (Read 5824 times)

There will be new siggy and avatar restrictions put into effect as of 15 AUGUST 06 with this new addition to the rules of the forum the specifications for siggys and avatars will be as follows:

All siggys and avatars must have a file size under 20Kb
-- To check the file size of your siggy or avatar right click on it and check the properties

The maximum width is 450 pixels and maximun height of 100 pixels

All Siggys must be centered

After 15 AUGUST 06 all siggys and avatars that are found by me (Laurie) that do not meet the restrictions will be removed without notice.

Anyone that hasn't taken care of their siggy file size you can PM me with a request to minimize it. I will be working on this over the next couple of days.

At some point I will give the authorization to delete all siggys that are not below the minimum file size of 20kb and there will not be a notice sent to you when your siggy is deleted.

I hate to sound abrupt but in this case it is necessary so that we can get the file size down and folks with dial up will be able to view the forum at an acceptable speed.

If you happen to be on a DSL or cable line just think back to the day and all the waiting you had to do and how happy you were to have a faster connection.

There are still some places (hard to imagine) that do not have DSL or Cable available. So lets take care of this

Since you brought it up again, your right, I would like you to find one with a bass on it. I think that since you are the head welcome wagon and the first person that potential members see it is giving them the wrong impression and they think this is just a "fishing" site and to most BASS fishermen that is a turn off. They are looking for a bass fishing site that has bass fishing information and bass fishermen to BS with.

There is no need to be mean to us in AK just because there are no bass up here

I think mine is OK Laurie, if you would just let me know if it needs to be minimized, I hate to sound like a bum, but if you could take care of that for me if it does, being TDY I have no access to that, and I am on dial up too, get this, 28kps

It shows as 354x116 and the file size is 20.904 Kb. Need to shrink it down a little, R61Rangeric.

Unless he just resized it in the past few minutes, I am showing 319 x 105 @ 14.55...R61

I do not know how to ensure it is centered under my post, also, how do I go about linking a URL to the siggy?

Here is mine for example, i've centered the entire code with center tags, then added my text, my url is a link to my recently added pics but it is linked to my thumbnail pic for the siggy block and the text for the image. Hope this helps

Mike, Please read the Forum guidelines. Your siggy is an advertisement and they are not allowed on our forum unless you are a paying sponsor. Although we are in the process of doing a product review for Esox Rods, they are not a sponsor of the site. Please remove your siggy and replace it with one that is within regulations.

This helps alot, is it possible to link my photobucket image as easily as you did yours?

Obviously this will have to wait, until I design something which isnt considered an advert.

Mike, the rule of thum is that if it is your personal banner, meaning that is tells something about you, what boat you drive, where you live your name etc. You can have a logo for Esox on it, but it can not be a company banner that is all about that company. The other thing is that there can be no "call to action" words in it.

You are welcome to have a text link in your siggy to Esox

So I can use the logo from ESOX as a back ground, and add the link, as long as I dont mention to contact me?

Is that about it?

EDIT: Nevermind... I just re-read what you posted... logo yes, banner no... Will redo it later... what I have will work for now...
