Moccasin Boats...
« on: December 28, 2004, 05:34:07 PM »

Any of you guys seen these little rigs??? There web site here is a little bit behind actually for as been updated. The 150 rig they have out is quite a slick stick steered rig. If they was a little cheaper for them I would just have to have one LOL... There was one on Ebay a few years back that I was going to bid on and then all of a sudden someone called this dude up and said she wanted this all quite and all so her husband would not know till he got the rig. So I never even got to try to buy it. Was a really nice boat though and the add had a couple of really good pics of it, where as this web site doesn't. Just wondered if anyone here had maybe seen one or even fished from one of the models they make???

Hopefully you will get some good intel on this Rowdy, we have a ton of these type of boats running around here. They are perfect for the shallow water - cypress tree filled lakes we have around here. I have never fished out of one but I can definately see where they would be very advantagous

Hey Rowdy, these little boats are actually made not too far from where we are. I believe that they are made in Mansfield Louisiana. I have seen alot of them around here. Not bad for the size. I work with a woman who has a two seater, she said that her boyfriend and her are able to fish quite well in the boat. Maybe that will help.............Dave

Yeah they are great boats for small waters. In fact they are made here, or at least just south of Shreveport, I have owned several of their Pirogues over the years.

My father-in-law has one of the 2-seater stick steering boats. It has an 18hp motor on it. It will flat out scoot & handles really well. He loves it. It is light & easy to tow & floats in only several inches of water. We have gotten into some backwaters that were only 4-5 inches deep. No way a bass boat could have gotten back there. They are nice. His has carpet, livewell, lights, rod racks. Pretty much everything you could need in a small package.

Cool guys, I wondered if there might not be some around where you guys are. You don't see much of the stick steered boats anymore. I had one with a 55 Rude on it when I was kid living on a lake in Central Texas. Loved that thing. I know for a fact I caught way more fish from it than I have anything else too. Now I know it wouldn't get as shallow as this one does. So has anyone been in one in pretty bad rough water? If so how did they do?
