Your Favorite Lake in Arkansas

I have to say my favorite lake is Lake Dardanelle. We have hosted two Elite 50's, The Womens Bassmaster Tour, Crappie USA, and so many other big tours.

My favorite is Lake Ouachita, near Hot Springs. My favorite full service marina is Mountain Harbor Marina. They have cabins and motel rooms, a restaurant, a sandwich shop, the works. I've been caught on the lake in severe weather (ice storm for 2 nights and another time high winds & tornados), so was glad to have a place to moor in a covered slip and stay overnight.

Driving from Hot Springs, AR, Mountain Harbor Resort is located 25 miles west of Hot Springs, AR at Mountain Harbor Resort on Lake Ouachita. Take Hwy 270 West toward Mount Ida and watch for the Mountain Harbor sign on the right just past the township of Joplin. Turn right at the sign onto Mountain Harbor Road and travel approximately 2 miles.

My favorite lake is Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas. Each year we host tournaments such as FLW Tour, Central Pro Am, and numerous state and local tournaments. Its also where it all began, Ray Scott held the first ever BASS Pro Tournament at Beaver Lake in 1967.

I would have to agree with Dardanelle.  The fish are huge and the scenery is awesome.  Livivng in Redfield, you just don't get to see the more scenic parts of the river. ;D

I would have to say my favorite lake is "Cooks Lake", off the Quachita River.  We have not hosted any tournaments there or seen any fishermen last 3-4 times I have been there. I bet nobody on this forum has ever heard of the lake. Its a real quite place, need a 4 -wheel drive to put in most of the time. Tournaments and Festivals have there place and are fun, but you cant beat the sound of "nothing" sometimes.  I really like it when we have to take the beer out of the icechest so we can put all the Bass in.  Wildlife is another draw to Cook's, Alligators, birds of all species, its all there in the Quachita bottoms.

I'm pretty partial to the lake I live on...Old River Lake!  It's your basic oxbow but it's loaded with monster crappie, cats and bass.  The best part is I can fish 7 days a week without burning out a gallon of gas!  At the right time of year I just sit on the dock and catch about a dozen 5-10lb catfish before 8am then I drop the boat in and catch the bass spawning!   ~shhh

There's also another lake over here that's hard to put a boat into and NOBODY fishes in it.  My father in law went crappie fishing in there with a buddy of his and caught a 5lb bass on a minnow and a boatload of big crappie.  It's really closed off with trees all around so it's like you're in a world all your own.  I need to get over there and do some fishing!!!

Hey Roger,

Great time Sat. & Sun. enjoyed meeting you and your wife and looking forward to another gathering. Nice boat and Super motor.

My favorite place to fish is the Arkansas River below Dardanelle Dam.

I can't say that Dardanelle is my favorite lake although I fish there a lot. Sometimes I catch them and sometimes I don't. I like camping there though, when the kids (big and little) are back in school!

Right now Dardanelle would have to be the best all round fishery in the state.

Lake Erling Southwest AR.  Folse.... I'm with you on Columbia.... however I'm not sure the next state record will come from there.  I used to think so but with the increased pressure and the slot change I've seen the quality and average size in the lake drop way down in the last couple of years.  I think the next record will come from Monticello or  Lake Georgia Pacific.  GP might be my pick because of how secluded it is.
