6 Jan 07 surf temp 49, water clarity, main lake crystal clear as it can be! Creeks and sloughs muddy in back and moving to the river! This should help the fishing after the water gets a little color and helps warm it up a little deeper! Fish Colbert side caught 2 nice smallmouth on baby brush hogs! Fished bluffs where there is a ledge before the drop off to 30-40 feet! I fished about 4hours and finally figured out about hour in to the trip that the fish wanted a dead stopped bait, and would hold it like it was snagged> After I finally started setting the hook on all snags, I caught the 2 smallmouths! Lost a few more babt brush hogs, but it is worth it! Fishing should pick up with a little color in the water!
