1-18-2007 Lake Guntersville Bass Fishing Reports
« on: January 19, 2007, 08:22:30 AM »

Today cloudy skies, light wind, and clear water made some wonderful conditions to fish Lake Guntersville. A friend of mine and I launched out of Waterfront at 9:00am and we went searching for lipless crankbait fish. On the second cast we found one and I just knew that was going to be bad luck, but it wasn’t. We fished all the way up to North Sauty and caught 17 fish and lost/missed about 6 others on the Xcalibur Xr50 rattle bait in Royal Shad and Royal Red. Best 5 fish around 22lbs. and I’m trying to forget about the one that pulled off. Water temp was 44-49 degrees and at winter level.

The longer I fish and follow Guntersville the more I think fishing pressure has a huge impact....theoretically the fishing should not be better when the water temps are below 50 as compared to when its 70-80( lower metabolism=less feeding behavior and activity), but the recent reports would seem to indicate thatits as least as good. I surmise its because not near as much pressure, plus with the weeds down this time of year they are a little more accessible ~c~ I seem to do about as well in Jan-Feb as I do any other time of the year (which ain't great but enough to keep me coming back for more )lo.

Gotta love Guntersville!!  Nice catch!!!  Attaching a link to a couple places I did well the last time I was there 3-4 years ago - April timeframe.

You can get a better pic by looking at Google's Satellite imagery of these spots.

Swede, your second topozone link looks like it's in the cove where i'll be fishing/sleeping next weekend.  I was searching for a good place to fish and I may not have to go far!!!  This is unbelievable!
