The storm is West of Mobile right now, heading my way. Taking off work, and staying home tonight.

Just got a call from my Aunt. My grandmother's neighborhood in Millers Ferry, AL got hit this morning. My grandmothers house did not get any damage at all, but she is out of power. Others were not so lucky. If there is an upside to this, most of the houses are not occupied this time of year and are used as vacation homes. Still sad, but atleast folks have somewhere to go.

The number is up to 13 dead according to WAFF.com I'm afraid.  School was letting out at 1:00, but it was too late. :(

edited:  The news downgarded back to 9 people killed.

usually the safest places during a storm is at school...During Hurricane evacs down here, the schools are usually our shelters.  Based on that thinking....the school should be the safest place :surrender:

If they were to let them out, how would they know for sure they went home. Or if their parents were even home to get them off the bus and not at work themselves. I agree with keeping them at school in a protected area. If they don't have shelter's maybe make some ASAP. Never know when another will hit our areas. Account for all the youngin's that way.

May the Good Lord comfort the families that have lost loved ones and/or the ones that had their homes destroyed. Please continue to pray for the kids that witnessed it too.
