Tip for cleaning trailer connections

I have always been frustrated by the amount of corrosion that gets into my trailer connections.  Living in Northern NY and trailering in the winter time with the salt and chemicals they put down on the highways it does a number on electrical connections.  Found a very simple and easy way to clean the flat 4 and 5 prong trailer connections.  Get a 22 caliber bore cleaning brush at the local gun shop or sports section of Wal-mart.  It fits perfectly into the female connections and will also clean the male connects.  Spray a little WD-40 on both and you are done in a matter of seconds.

Thanks for the tip. Living in Ohio we have the same problems. I forgot to cover the plug on my truck and now I have corrosion in the connector. I was trying to figure out what I could use to clean it out. I'll try this. Thanks again for the tip.

another tip after you clean the connections is to take vasaline and coat the connections with it helps to keep them clean a bit longer

Tried that and the vasiline attracts every bit of dirt, small stones, and everything else you can imagine.....then it is harder to clean then before.  I found a quick spray of WD-40 is the easier and cleanest way to go in the long run.
