Marking posts as unread
« on: January 10, 2006, 11:52:25 AM »

I don't know how you folks scan the board, but I always click the "Show unread posts since last visit".  That works nicely except (for example) you get 50 new "welcome" messages each time somebody goes and says welcome to new members.  Then there are other posts (like club business 1,000 miles away from me) that I'm not interested in.

Is it possible to put a check box to the side of the posts so that you can click it and always have it show up has being "read"?  That way you can select which threads you don't want to track.

I asked about this very thing a few days ago.

When you first get to the forum go into the Let Us Get to know you board & select Mark All Read, then go up & hit the Show unread post...

I have been doing that the last few days & it helps!

I don't think that there is a way to do what you are asking nlareau.  I would just click the "board" name right under the new post and when you get to that board...click "mark all read", then go back to the show unread posts.  There is a lot to read.  I was 19 pages behind when I got back from the boat show.

The mark as read button will only clear the posts for the board you are on. Be careful and don't do it on the main forum or you will loose everything  :'( been there done that  ~xyz

Why is it that every single time i log on anymore ALL the messages are marked *new*, on every board?! Even topics that i have marked unread, with no new additional posts, they are all marked *new* again when i log back on.

First if you mark a topic "Unread" it's going to show that topic as new again because you told the forum that you didn't read it.

If you have cleared your profile by selecting mark as read, this shouldn't be happening. And if you have read a thread and there is no new posts to it again it shouldn't show up as new unless you previously marked it as "unread"

Anyone else having this problem?

Something isn't right, I will have to sick Mother Nature on this one. I check what I know how to and everything looked fine. She is out of the office this evening and will be tomorrow as well. But we will work this as fast as we can.
