Hurricane fish kill
« on: September 18, 2008, 09:59:49 AM »

Fresh water   It to early to tell how bad it will be but we have had a kill. The West Fork of the Calcasieu River (where the launch was for first UBCS shootout) had a significant kill. I have seen a bunch of pictures an a guy that works with me lives on the West Fork hes confirmed that they had a big kill.

The lower part of the main river also has a lot of dead fish. Have not gotten to the upper river yet, hope it did better than when Rita hit.

I have not heard anything about the Sabine river yet but being it is even closer to the eye I would think there is a kill there also.

Salt Water.  Getting reports of dead Red Fish and Specs everywhere, littering the grounds in Cameron Parish.

Just talked to Bobby Reed and he told me the water quality is poor and expected to get worse when the water comes out of the woods. He said the fish kill was not as bad as the one from Rita but we won't know what to expect until the water comes down some and all that water from the woods pours into the river. It's not looking too promising. The pictures I sent to Fogy are from Henderson and all I can say is that place is toast.
