1/26/08 - ABA tournament Cooter's Pond (Alabama River) Report
« on: January 26, 2008, 08:21:36 PM »

Cold and rainy start with intermittant rain throughout most of the day.  And cold, did I mention that???

Anyway, fished ABA tournament today and managed a decent bag.  Four fish for 7.11 lbs which put me into 8th place (out of 24 anglers).  The fish didnt have lock jaw but they had a habit of taking the bait and not the hook.  Water temp was 46.6 degrees with minimum stain due to the rains.

Winning weight was just over 14 lbs, with 9.05 or say taking the last check.

Those two good fish I had come unbuttoned would have put me in the money   >:(

Sounds like I need to head back north across the border to find biting fish.  Lock jaw down here this weekend on Choctawhatchee River and Lake Seminole.  Nice finish - keep it up!!  Maybe next time those two that came unbuttoned with make it into the livewell!!

Thanks Swede!

Making a habit of getting a limit, or closed to a limit, and missing a kicker fish.   ~xyz  So far I have been to at least place in ABA tournaments and have already surpassed my point total for last year's regular season.  Lookout Southeast Regionals at West Point Lake, GA!

Nope.  D-24 just uses the ABA forum.  You looking for a schedule or something?

yeah...i found the website below that had links to schedules and stuff. I am just trying to learn a little bit about it...  Can you get in mid-year, or do you have to be a member at the beginning of the season? I was looking in to maybe being a co-angler at the next tournament around and maybe get a different perspective, know what I mean?

Sorry I havent replied back ...been busy lately.

To answer your question, as long as you fish 4 one day events to qualify for the 2-day divisional tournament.  Your total points for the 4 1-days and the 2-day divisional event count toward your qualifying for the Regionals.  Still plenty of time to get in for this year.
