Texas State Bass Fishing Information
«
on:
May 08, 2005, 02:09:58 PM »
I thought this might be a good place to add a forum for the Texas State Bass Fishing Information. I know that there are a lot of you out there talking about fishing and this will give you a place to talk about the area fishing information that isn't really a fishing report. Things like slot limits, lake closers, Fishing and Game issues and trips or stories about Texas.

I live 30 some odd miles from Squaw Creek and doubt that you will ever see another tournament on the lake. It is available to youth groups sometimes for bank fishing but I don't think you will ever see non TXU boats allowed on it. TXU wanted to close the lake to the public before 9-11 and so they have used that as an excuse.

i hope you can. I get to go there and fish off the bank but that hydrilla bed inhe north end on the edge of the creek chanell is where you need to be fishing.
The bank they let you get to is good during the spawn but not worth a crap this time of year.

I know that feelin about too much goin on.
I am still job huntin, and tryin to keep this place together, seems that the maintenance crew around here isn't too swift, if ya know what I mean.
We have been house huntin, but don't think it will happen for a while.
I really don't know a while lot about around here, and Jan hasn't fished Texas much, so it will be a learning experience for both of us.
I saw a river or channel or somethin right off of loop 340 and have been eying the people fishin it every time I pass, there is always one or two vehicles full of people there most of the time, dunno what they are catchin, but it does look promising. Maybe we will be able to get licenses in the next couple of weeks and get back into the habbit of going once in a while.
I know it sure helped the food budged when I was livin in Florida.

Hey,
I'm sure that some of you know that you can get fishing reports from the TPW website. For those of you that haven't visited this site, here's the link
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/
You can get weekly fishing reports from just about all the major lakes in TX and other good info on boating safety, etc.

Helloooo just found this thread, great job, well Ive lived here in the great country of Texas, oops sorry State, for about 1 1/2 yrs. moved from the land of light tackle and the drop shot, Wa. sure as hell don't miss the cold or rain, anyways live in Bedford and always looking for a partner to prefish local lakes during the week. The wife and I fish couples tournies on the weekends, so anyone who knows the lakes and willing to share gas and info give a holler.

Abilene here. Worked Lake Ft Phantom for the last five days to no avail. Any plans to play on the lake are dead in the water so to speak now that the Dock at the northside ramp is broken in half. Wind has wreaked havoc on the northside hot spots. Deep runners aren't catching any interest. Spillway has yet to be responsive as of late due to high chop and heat. Eastside weed beds haven't been especially responsive to spinner baits, cranks, or live. Same goes for collins dock and west ramp. We trolled deep south lake with no interest there either. If there are hybrids lurking, we haven't been able to find them or get them moving. Just thought I'd drop a line and save y'all some time...lol

~cfSmokey, Lake Limestone is about 40-50 miles east of Waco. Hwy 7 passes close to it. It is one of my favorite lakes. It has a lot of shallow stained water and a lot of boatdocks and canals. Also creek chanels and standing timber. We have a club tournament once or twice a year. or did untill gas got so damn high.
