Ranger or Legend ...  I've never seen a bass boat I didn't like !  ~beer~

You are refering to BASS BOATS when you say Ranger OR Legend right??? All the others are mere imitations  lo
The only one I met I didn't like was my nephew's 1985 Champion he bought a few months ago. All I can say is it was worn out 17 owners ago. He got it for a song and a dance but has put so much $$$ in it that he'd been better off buying a new boat.  :)

Wow, I completely forgot about this thread. But since I'm here I have a story to tell.

While at Lake Fork recently, the winds got up and, as usual, the infamous Lake Fork rollers began forming all over the lake. Well we ran back to the marina for some lunch after our morning trip and didn't get wet at all. On the other hand, one of the other families that was staying with us who had just recently bought a Legend Alpha 211(the one Aaron Martens used on Bass Edge) returned from his morning trip SOAKING WET. They all had on rain gear and were still COMPLETELY soaked. Now for a boat that is supposed to be the driest riding, how does that happen?

I know you are probably thinking that he might have taken a rougher route than us but this was not the case. In fact, we made a longer run than him and still didn't get wet at all. Neither did the other family, which has a Ranger too.

Its more about the driver than anything.  Could also be the area they came out of.  might not of had any desicion but to run in the rough stuff crossways or something.  perfect example I ran along side some 21' rangers 521VX I believe and I had my 18ft champ.  I came back to the marina fairly dry and they both had water knee deep in their cockpits and I think I saw a couple of them changing their drawers.  lo

We came back the exact same way they came and they had to idle out of a PROTECTED cove. Same channel, same turns, same everything. They were soaked. We were dry.

It's all about the driver Jared. If you miss time a way any boat can have trouble getting wet. Until you get into a Legend don't bad mouth them. Once you ride in one you may absolutely hate it (I doubt it but you might).

Ranger is a good boat, this thread has gotten way off track and should be allowed to fall to the back of the board. If you have something new to say about your RANGER then post it in a NEW THREAD, but don't compare it to other boats.

This is a Ranger Board and this thread should have been in another place. I have not moved it because I DID NOT want to get it started again!

Keeping in mind this is a Legend driven web page what did you expect other than posts like these? Some people are just better at underhanded jabs at the Chevy boys.

I guess we could talk about some boats that crack in to two pieces? Every boat manufacturer will have a lemon once in a while. Just about all the boat lines made today are good boats and if it's the one you want it the best one for you. Why do you all keep attacking other boats instead of promoting yours?

It seem that if there was anything constructive to say about your boat brand you would not have to attack others, right? I do not understand why some people have to try and aggravate others if their boat is so great?

I love my boat but it may not be the one for you, no big deal.

Come on yourself padawan angler read my post!

Oh and my comments above are not the only ones.   8)   Before this gets even more into a ford/chevy thing I did say there are going to be issues with all boats my 1st post here was in responce to your post that I quoted and marked in red about "Rangers are built to last... a long long long time. So well built that durability can not be matched by any boat out there in my opinion. " they not only can be matched they are as of late not near as strong as they once were.

Keeping in mind this is a Legend driven web page

Legend is an advertiser here, any boat manufacture is more than welcome :-* Because of the top billing they get everyone thinks they "drive" the site, don't get me wrong their advertising definitely helps keep the site here for everyone to enjoy.

However I would love to see each of the manufactures sponsor a board by simply having a tech or knowledgeable person monitor it and answer questions for everyone :-*

Exactly, if your in the Ranger Boats Board like we are Start new threads and tell us how great your boat is, show us pictures, if you have a question ask other ranger owners. That's what it's for  :-*

Please don't bash other boats. This thread got way out of control and it's a damn shame that it happens. Turned into a war between Legend and Ranger instead of what the member was looking for, I guess it was headed that way from the start :(

Father Time,

Or should I call you Mike? :)

Might be that "Legend driven" was incorrect wording, I believe it should have been the drivers of the web page seem to drive Legends.
I stand corrected however again, if you can't say something positive about your ride why bash others? You know that when someone posts a brand "A" v.s. brand "B" that sooner or later someone will post a degrading remark and I would venture to say you could probably predict who that would be with your experience on the web pages. Some people just have to be destructive in stead of constructive.

IMHO

I am new to the site and a proud owner of a new 198vx Comache. I really enjoyed everyones comments and although I hope I made a good choice I was not offended in the least by those who perfer the legend.

I think it was good reading!

I have owned Ranger boats since 1973(TR-10) & every model I have purchased since then has been greatly improved. When the Bassmaster Classic was in Greenville SC I look hard at a legend & almost bought it. The reason I did not there was no dealer in SC. I kept my Ranger that I had at the time until last year when I purchased a Ranger Z-21. It is a great boat to fish out of & I am glad I own it.

I think this just boils down to individuality. There will always be differences of opinion. I myself love my ranger. But I've never ridden in a legend. Don't have any need to. I've got what I've always wanted, and I'm happy with it. So I don't think ones really better than the other, but that their both very good boats. This is what makes the world go round. Different strokes for different folks.

I had several bass boats working my way up to a Ranger .Something I wanted since I first subscribed to Bassmaster Magazine in 1978 I believe.. Then several ,well about ten years ago I was a co-angler in a Everstart on the Mississippi the weather was rough but the ride was rougher . I found out in my quest for bigger and better tournaments that speed was everything. I could not believe how much my neck and back hurt with every crashing wave.
I swore that if god would just stop the pain I would never do it again. It wasn't until by accident I had to purchase another boat and looked at a LE-21 LEGEND that was for sell in my area for a good price. It was then that I realized that not all BassBoats were created equal.
FOR ME it was a real blessing. Not only was I able to get out on the water again in the rough stuff but I could do it at the speed I needed to in comfort and safety  .

Probably the only thing I haven't seen mentioned here is the resale value of either boat. I would guess the Ranger would bring more money. We are beginning to see more Legends here in the West and I've heard good things about them but I haven't had a ride in one to form an opinion. I currently have the 2002 195vs Ranger with the 200 HPDI. Based on what I know if I were to buy again it would be the Z520 with the new Yamaha 4 stroke motor.
