Stonewall Lake survived winter!

I launched at the Vandalia ramp last Saturday, and ran up the lake to the dam. The lake was 39 degrees, and looked colder! I graphed fish at 20-25 feet, and talked to one other group of die hards who also were on the lake. We need about 15 degrees of heat in the water, and it should be right! MAG

Never fished Stonewall but plan to this spring. Would like to fish the pre-spawn areas. Can I get some help on the best areas to lauch at that are the best areas to fish for pre-spawn bass?
I live in Hurricane and would appreciate help on where to exit off of the Interstate and directions to the ramp.

You bet...Take the Roanoke Exit (96) off of 79 and go south on Rt. 19 to the lake. The park entrance to the camp ground, and one of the 3 lake launches is after the guard shack. This is a pay ramp, but it is the best ramp on the lake. I get a season pass for $30, and use it from Feb-late December. The lake is now 48 degrees and rising, so the bass are starting to come up. I'd start by getting a good lake map, and focusing on the main lake. All of the coves, and cuts hold good spawners early in the spring. After the spawn, look for ledges or timber. I'd like to tell you more, the best advice is to fish typical spring patterns, and you will be fine-MAG
