I am sorry to hear that you had an accident on the rive. I am glad that you are ok, but it sounds like to boat is going to be out of the water for a while.

I hope all is well,
Laurie

Well Papa,
I am glad that you will still be fishing. I can't even think of Mike going without a boat for a month. The last time he was without was when he was deploied last time for 6 months and I thought that he was going to go crazy without it. I think that he would have weathered the deployment much better if they would have figured out how to get his boat over there in one of those bombers... 8)

Papa,

What did you do to your boat?   ???  The first week of March, I hit a boat-road piling on Caddo.   :o  If you're familiar with the Tar Island Slough area, there is a marker that is leaning over, almost completely under the water.  Well, the water level was up and  the lake was rough, so I was going down the boat road about 45 mph, just like I was supposed to, and BAM!  I struck the piling dead center on the keel, about 18 inches from the transom.  The force of the impact and the swell of the rough water picked the lower unit up over the piling, thank God!  It put a hole about 5 inches wide and 10 inches long completely through the hull, knocking my transducer out and breaking my bilge pump loose from its mounting bracket.   :( After seeing the water being pumped out by the bilge pump, I decided that my fishing day was over and headed for the hill.  I took it to Smith's and they had me fixed up and back on the water in about three weeks.   :)Insurance covered the "collision" damage, so my cost was $0.   ;D I ment to post this story when it happened so people could watch out for that piling.  Somebody needs to mark it real good, so no one else ends up like I did.

I almost nailed that same one a few weeks ago. I was running and it was rough as hell and raining I simply didn't see it until I was very close. On that same boat road there is a tree, piling, or something submerged in the boat lane. If your running from LA to tar Island, you run C but that splits off and goes to Texas by Jap Island, If you don't take that turn keep running south on the LA side of Green Break running that boat road that takes you towards Tar Island you pass an old Oil well platform on the right then head out towards the lake and go around that point of green break. Right before that point is something under the water. I was idling out from that point, in the boat road and trimming down before getting up on plan and I nailed something. Luckly I didn't hurt anything. I 'm going the back way from now on.

I saw that pole (Caddo) laying down a couple of weeks back, sorry you hit it.  I know all too well about holes in the boat, I have had some expensive repairs done due to river rocks, $2500 worth last year about this time.  Right now, I'm down with a blown motor, gonna be about $4500 out of my pocket, warranty is expired..........where does it end?!?!?!!!!!!!!!  Oh yeah, it ends when you sell your boat, LOL!   Since I'll most likely always have a boat, I might as well get used to it, huh?  I just ordered my new power head today, so hopefully I'll be back on the water within a couple of weeks.   Papa, that river is treacherous, ain't it???  Ya'll be careful out there.

I still do not know what I hit but looking at the damage it looks like I must have hit rocks. Over 5,000 in damage new lower unit and bottom. I will think twice befor I go to the river again. I know if I keep fishing I will have to go sooner or later but I hope it is later.
;D I am still looking at a month OR MORE

I didn't realize so many of y'all were out with boat damage.  Well, since I'm back on the water, I'll take you fishing if we get to go to your honey holes!  Let me know.

Yeah Mike,
This is the Trey from Barksdale.  We went to Cypress together with Clint Michaelson and Jay Buie.  Sorry that I didn't reply earlier, but I've been generating aircraft all weekend. :-\  I wanted to fish Cypress this afternoon, but it looks like the lightning might keep me away.  I still haven't made up my mind yet.  I'll let you know how I do.
