falcon rod?
« on: June 04, 2008, 05:21:44 AM »

anybody that has a mental problem or disease that makes you feel like you need a new fishing rod more often than you do can probably help me.

I have finally decided that I want, no I need, a another rod for flipping/pitching 3/8-1/2oz jigs in amongst the cover mostly live cypress trees, docks, or buck brush.

I don't want a heavy big dull feeling stick for horseing something out of the grass or brush and uprooting the stuff in the process, more concerned with good handling, feel, and precision.. kinda hard to describe but basically i don't want to feel like i'm trying to maneuver a telephone pole around in my hand to get a bait softly right where i want it.

I have been told falcon makes a rod that a lot of people are really really happy with, but am unsure of specific model referred to so don't want to go out half cocked and buy the wrong falcon and have wasted my money.  I don't have a lot of cash for buying rods, so I only get one shot at this.. if i get sub-par then i'm probably stuck with it for a while.

i DON'T really want an all-star and can't afford Loomis.  price range up to about $150?

I know it's not a falcon, but the sensitivity of the carrot stix (MH 73 fast tip) is unbelievable, comparing it to my st Croix and my grandt all American pro rods, it's definately the most sensitive rod and it was 120.00 brand new on ebay.  I got lucky on the price, but it's in your range.

A great rod is the 7' heavy action rod that is a Falcon Cara:  cc-6-17h.  It's made for deep carolina rigging, but it is the best jig rod for flipping I have found.  Very light and is almost indestructable.  Great rod! ~cf

i think i'm narrowed down to the above 2 choices and shimano crucial 7'6 MH.  any  thoughts on the Crucial?

i'm hearing a lot about the carrot stix but have yet to hold one or fish with anybody that has one.. ~cf

I have a few Falcons, Silver series and Low Riders.  Very light and sensitive rods.  Another I would recommend would be All Star Select series that cost much less and have a little more weight to them.  Some folks I know prefer not having too lite a rod for flipping.

there are two rods that you want to look at the falcon cara 6'10" in either the 5 or 6 power. These rods are awesome. With what you are looking for I would go with the 6 power and I believe it has the split grip I know the 5 power does. You will love this rod for pitching.  Light weight and very snsitive with a strong backbone but a tip to pitch baits.

Let me knownif you need any more info. I have all the rods i mentioned and then some.

falcon bucoo, its a great light sensitive rod for the money, not quite as light as the carrot stick or the cara but it is also 100, i was in a similuar situation as you and i chose the bucoo and i was not dissipointed.
