2008 Triton 21x HP W 250 Pro XS
« on: November 15, 2008, 03:41:42 PM »

Hello Triton Owners-
I am very close to buying a 2008 Triton 21X HP with a 250 Pro XS on it. Does anyone on here currently run one of these. If so please let me know what your thoughts on it's performance are. I am interested in speed with tournament load and handling at high speed. I know they changed the 2008's a little to handle better and want to see if what you guys think.

Thanks a lot- Charlie

I have a 07 and my buddy has a 08. I cannot tell a difference in handling, but my 07 may be 2-3 mph faster. I do like how the 08 has the adjustable seats.

Im in a similar boat so to say. I'm shopping and considering the performance of a Mercury Optimax Pro XS 225 on a 2007 Trition 21x2, versus having a 250hp. any thoughts opinions or suggestions on the speed, performance, and handling of a 225 with a larger 21ft?

thanks!

If you're looking for speed, then stick with the 250.  I've got an older Triton TR-21 and with a 225 and a decent setup, I can get 70 mph from it loaded with just me on board.  A 250 will give you that little extra when running back to the weigh-in.

Handleingshould be very simular with either motor.  The 250 is going to get you 4-5 mph more than 225 on average.

I'll second that, def 250hp. A few light mod's to the prop, and jack height and you'll be good to go, Triton's hulls are awesome.
