You know what this site needs is like a weekly or monthly photo contest for members. And don't make it a large fish competition, maybe some photos could be a bit more artsy than a fat grin with a fatter fish. Just my opinion, we wouldn't even need prizes. Maybe just a little badge that you can add to your signature or something. Who knows, I know I'm not the first person to suggest this, but I like the idea.

There has been different type discussions on this previously. To make it work, you would have to have some way to make sure the picture was current. We will have to see what interest there is.

Sounds like a good idea to me... What would be some of the rules that you guys would like to see for the contest?

Is it important to have the photos curent?

What kind of photos would we enter into the contest?

I like the idea of it not just being a big fish contest

Pretty lake scenery or any water. I am sure Fishaholic will come in with some nature shots .

I think one of lakes then one of funniest sights while on the water would be good!

What if one month we do just one category and then next month we do something else?

I would like to see the lake scenery as well as the funny sights while out fishing.... I also like to see general outdoor scenery and I love to take photos of butterflies and flowers

Everyone let me know what you would like the category for the first contest to be and we can start working on the framework for this....

We might just have to create a spot on the main site to host the winning photos...

I am all for a different format each month. Now for the first month lake scenes , and then as the seasons change ,maybe go with something that corresponds with each one , with a funny one here and there .

Lake pics a great and I love to laugh at funny sites but my grand kids are the prettiest and funnest of all. I have a winning pic if it ever gets to kids!!! Sounds like fun.

Well so far we are thinking that we want to keep the artist confidential until after the photos are judged so I think that maybe a special place in the Gallery where I can upload the photos so that they can be judged. I will give them numbers that will tell me who took the picture and that way when the contest is over we can lable them with the artist.

I am thinking for the first one that we do something with water in it. Lake water, river water, pond water... it could be a photo of a lake view, a boat, kids or what have you... oh and don't forget about fish. Let me know what you think about this so far and we will fine tune it a little more in the next couple of days...

I can help Fish judge there, cuz it will be easy to identify all the stuff I am snapping, all the lakes have huge mountains around them, nature would be a moose in there or a bear or something, northern lights and such, I am

Sure you can email the photos to me. We can start on September 1 and have the contest run through the end of the month. The winner for now will recieve a banner that he or she can place in their siggy if they would like

Silver and Fishaholic will be the official judges and of course everything has to be cleared through me and Mike before anything is announced.

If anyone revealses the identity of their photo they will be disqualified. I am sure that some of you have experience with photo contests and before September 1st we may add some other guidelines but for now that is all I have...

Batteries,, DONT forget to check the batteries. Nothing worse then going to take a breath taking picture and have dead batteries

So are you guys ready to get this thing rolling...

The first subject or topic is going to be WATER, your photo has to have water in the picture, preferably a lake, pond, river or stream.
You must be the phtographer
The photo must not be altered in any way
All photos must be recieved by midnight September 30th
A winner will be selected on October 1st

The photo has to be sent to me at laurie@ultimatebass.com with the following:

Clearly labled as PHOTO CONTEST ENTRY
Your Full Name
Complete Address
Member Name here on the fourm
Date that the picture was taken
The location of the shot, lake, state, etc.
Short description of the photo

The winner will recieve a unique banner for their signature signifying that they had the best in pictures or something cool... As soon as I have come up with it I will post it here for the site to see...

Hey, I like this contest idea!

1 question:
Does the photo have to be taken inside of the contest time? Ex. for the first contest the picture must be taken between Spet. 1st and Sept. 30th?

I would have to say no since the rules are posted and we have already started the contest. I am not a fan of changing the rules mid stream, so that will have to be a consideration for the next photo contest

Any size requirements for the photo, as in it can only be this large in memory.
