Any thoughts on a Triton V186?
«

I'm looking at an '02 Triton V186DC Mag twith a Merc 150 XR6 to replace a '97 Fisher Marsh Hawk 180 that I truly loved but wrecked. It's a good looking boat, in decent shape, but the dealer wants to much for it. He's got it listed at 13,900, but I booked it (NADA) at around 10,000. Anyone out ther have any opinions or thoughts on the V186? Any idea what it would be worth?

I own a V186 and absolutely love it. Mine's an '04 and also has the XR6 150. I was lucky and got mine from my father-in-law when he decided to change boats, so I practically stole it (just took over payments). I've been offered 12k for mine, but wouldn't take it. 10 more payments to go and it'll be paid off....the same month that my truck will be paid off as well. I'm pretty stoked about that. My luck, I'll back the boat and the truck into the water the day after sending my last payments.
As far as the boat itself, I have very few complaints. The 150 will give you a hole shot that will leave many tournament rigs in your wake......at least for about 10 feet
. It's a great riding boat, even in rough water. There is a ton of storage. If you can get him to a price your comfortable with, I'd go for it....you won't be disappointed.

That's a great looking rig, cmansell. Thanks for the input. I'm somewhat partial to aluminum boats, and the V186 with the xr6 looks like it will do the trick. It looks like it's in pretty good shape, except for some weather cracking in the upholstery. If he'll come down around book (10,000 - 10,500) I think I'll take it. Gotta get back on the water!!!

Nice boats, have heard they like to chine walk a bit and that they like to rock a little while fishing. HOWEVER, this is just what I heard, no REAL experience to take it what it is worth.

if i were you id go with a ranger, nothing rides like one or has the accessoris.
The ranger model "ranger TR" is like the triton your looking at but better.
I own a ranger and its like no other boat out there.
P.S if you take my advice, put a etec on it.

I had so many problems it sound like a Soap Opera. The Motor Mercury XR6 blew the heads twice in three years. Brought a new motor. Boat had a leak in it. The more the Dealer work on it the more problems I have with the boat. The was spending more time at the Dealer than at my house. He broke more than he fix. Finally went to another Dealer and find the out it was leaking from the weld underneath. This is just a few problems I had with the boat. Now I am looking for a trailer because it rusting out and had it welded a couple times. Never been in saltwater. After saying all this, the money spent, and five years later, it runs pretty good.
