New River fishing report
« on: April 12, 2009, 07:27:59 PM »

The smallmouth bass are lighting it up on the New River here in WV.  The river has been high and the water stained.  I've fished big lures and I've fished them slowly and had some good luck.  One one trip we caught a couple of 20" smallmouth, big walleye and a decent muskie.

I'll be taking another float trip this month before the spawn.

Between April 12-18 the females decided to get on their beds.  The fishing was rough.  I'll be back on the river in a couple of weeks once it warms up some more.
