TROLLING MOTOR CONNECTION
« on: April 26, 2009, 05:05:03 PM »

I just bought a '94 Intimidator...it only had the cranking battery so I bought two deep cycle batteries for the trolling motor set up...now is where I get confused...the original connection (female) is 4 prong marked A+, A-, B+, B- (nice and easy), the male connector is 12, 24 and "-".  The guy I bought it from said the connector was bad and he was going to replace with a 3-prong, but I bought as is and said I would replace. I bought a new 4 prong connector (Marinco) which the male connector is A+, B+, "-" and NET...same for the female and I have no idea how to connect the wires since I have two red and two black coming from the back of the boat and three red, black and white coming from the trolling motor...that is only my first dilema...my second is that I can only read 12 volts from one battery...all the cables have been tested for continuity, but when I connect them to the batteries only one battery passes voltage...can any provide some input as to how to properly connect my batteries and connectors??? I'm dying to get this boat on the water...Thanks

Yep...sure did...called Marinco and found out the connector I purchased from Bass Pro was a "Tracker" application...imagine that...I got my wiring all figured out...ended up connecting batteries and only running one set of wires to front of boat...got my 24vdc, but then realized the original trolling motor (15 years old) didn't pass the power so I just went out and bought a new trolling motor...everything connected and working...just waiting to get it on the water now...

Thanks for asking...
