Lums Pond 9/20/09
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:53:40 PM »

Went out on Lums Pond this morning from 7am-12noon.  I'm from Baltimore, so this was my first time out.  It's a beautiful place, great birds too.  Tried spinnerbaits, topwater popper, texas rigged worms, and buzzbaits, but no luck.  Hardly any bites, actually.  Anyone had luck with other stuff lately?  It may have been too cold over the past few days which has settled the fish down.

Headed to Killens Pond next weekend for more fun in Delaware.  Any tips would be appreciated!

Our club, plus another club, wore that place out on Saturday! Out of the two clubs our best bag was 4 fish for 7.75 pounds, and the other club's a couple of fish for 4 something. Had about 15-20 boats out there, plus fun fishermen.

The pond has good fish in it, but was a little sluggish yesterday. Try crankbaits on the points and soft plastics later in the day on the laydowns and stumps. the boat docks are hitting too.

As for Killens Pond, don't waste your time, that place has been shut down for a long time unless the fall bite is turing on. We were there about a month ago and had small fish, none much bigger than 13 inches, and they were hard to come by.

if you're looking for numbers try the nanticoke River in Seaford. Fish from Seaford all the way up river. Plenty of fish!

The ponds i think are hit or miss right now. I heard that a fast retrieved buzzbait was catching them on Garrisons on Friday.

Also check out Blairs pond in Milford. The place is choked out with grass, but the fish are under the grass. It will take a little patience, but you can get a good couple of 2 pounders and maybe larger there. Or fish senkos above the grass for the keepers, plenty there too!

we're holding a megabucks tourney here this Friday April 2nd. Not megabucks as in sectioned parts of lake, but Megabucks as in CASH ONLY winner takes all!

$15 entry/boat (Single or team)
$5 optional lunker pot
5 fish limit, 12-inch minimum
Winner takes all

launch at 9AM, weigh-in at 2PM.

if you're interested in fishing, you should know the pond is off-limits this week.

Just show up! Don't forget cash for the park fee. $3 DE resident, $6 for non-resident.
