1984 Champion Transom
« on: October 03, 2009, 03:03:20 PM »

I have a 1984 Champion (mean 16, 150 Johnson) with what appears to be a weakening transom.  (1) Can the transom be repaired? and (2) is there product(s) out there that work better than others.  There is a product line referred to as "The Rot Doctor" and wondering if anyone has heard of it or used it.  I have contacted the Champion factory via email to see if they still do these repairs.  I have not heard from them yet.  Luv my boat and do not want to loose it.

Most marine dealers and any good fiberglass shop can repair a transom.

Thanks for the response and reassurance.  I'm going to speak to a repair shop this morning. Hopefully it's not to bad.  I know they will not know until they gets in there.  Was thinking about doing it myself but not sure how the torque and flex would be affected by that 150 on a short boat.  Concerned about the strength of the side bond.  Thanks Again.
