Ranger Ignition Problem
«
on:

I own a 1998 Ranger 461V Commanche(2nd owner) and recently when I go to turn the big motor off, the ignition will not turn the motor off, I have to pull the "Kill Switch" to get the motor to turn off. Does anyone have any ideas as to the problem and how to fix it myself without going to the Ranger dealer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like either the switch is bad or a connection has come off the back of the switch.

Does it have a key? or is it a push button start and stop type of ignition? if its a key type its most likely the switch,,if its the push button type set up not sure what it might be i havent ever worked on that type ign. set up,,but would think it would have a control panel or a relay type set up.

The boat has a key ignition. When the weather warms up a bit, I'll take a look at it and see if anything has come off the back or if there is someting loose. I may be able to pull it off myself and replace the part without the "dealer Fees".
Thanks Guys,
