What's this boat worth? 1995 Ranger 461 VS
« on: November 17, 2009, 04:53:42 PM »

In the market for a used boat and came across a 1995 Ranger 461 VS with a 1995 Mercury 150 XRI (EFI) motor. Boat appears to be in great to near mint condition. I'm thinking of offering in the 7k ballpark. Does that sound about right?

I don't think I would give any more that that.  I checked nada guides and it shows the boat worth 3600 and the motor worth 1300 and probably another 1000 for the trailer.  Some people won't budge on the price though.  They think its worth so much and aren't going to move.  As long as you think your getting a good deal, thats all that matters.

Thanks! That's good info. I didn't think about looking for Nada. I guess it's like Kelly Blue Book for boats. I'm gonna offer 6k and see what happens. :)

More info

This has been a great boat and still runs strong.  Sale includes a Ranger lean pedistal, seat, and a custom cover (not Ranger brand but form fitting to boat). Will run 59-63 on gps depending on load

it would be a steal for 6K especially with all of the other options.  Sounds like a decent boat.  Does he have an asking price?

No, I'm in a bidding war.   :'(  Current high bidder @ 6k. but would like to pre-empt and just buy it from him outright. Being my first real bass boat I think my 7k max is a good idea. I don't want to trash a 40k Skeeter just yet. LOL

if it falls through I have a 93 champion 180 for sale in the for sale section that would be good for you.  Its got scuffs and scratches in the bottom, but still runs really good and fishes great.

Also if this one falls through my backup is a 1988 Champion with a Merc 150 Mariner that I went and looked at. Can get that one real cheap $2500 and it looks awesome for that old of a boat. Carpet was not worn (obviously replaced) and seats were in good shape. Didn't see any cracks in the hull or transom. Again, first boat so I want to make the mistakes on one that I'm not making payments on. What if I sink at the Stick Marsh. heh.
