Thinking about getting a ZX Series 180
« on: November 27, 2009, 08:01:51 PM »

I'm looking into getting a 2009 Skeeter ZX Series 180 w/115 . Can anyone tell me about this boat. Like fishability, stability, how they handle choppy water, are they dry boats, how they hold up over time, are they well built? etc. Any and all info would be appreciated! Thanks

I have the SX-180 with the Yammi 115 2 stroke, and really love mine.  It has a smooth ride, is very stable for its size.  Running in open water with strong winds is not very fun, but that is true with any size boat.  Another thing I like is I can go where some of the big boats cannot.  I fish alot of back creeks, but am not afraid of the big lake either.  I get between 48-54 mph gps depending on the load.  I weigh 250 and my fishing partner weighs around 240.  Good motor.  The only thing I would change on mine is having bigger livewells, but remember I have the SX-180.  I think the ZX livewells are bigger.

All depends on the price. I am on the Skeeter team and might be able to help you find exactly what you want at a very good price. I've got a 2010 Skeeter ZX200 with a 200 Yamaha Series 2 3.3L big block motor. It's loaded out for tournaments. Give me a shout or shoot me a message and let me know what you are looking for. Would love to help you out.

If you fish any tournaments or plan on fishing with a partner, kids etc...I would recommend going with a ZX200 or a ZX190. Let me know if you get intererested in a particular boat and I'll check prices for you here.

I have the ZX 190 and love it. I had a Ranger with the Yamaha 115 and I didn't like it.( But that is my own opinion) The ZX 190 has plenty of room for two person fishing. My wife and I fish tourneys with it. Fully loaded I can go about 55 or 60 MPH by GPS.

Skeeter is Sweeter in my opinion.

I have a SX170 and I think it is a great boat.  My only regret is not maxing out the HP that the boat can handle I have a 90HP and should have gotten a 115HP.  I think the ZX180 can handle a 150HP so I woudl definitly upgrade the motor and trolling motor.  just my .02
