For largemouth, smallmouth, and spots I love the Lake Fork Magic Shad.  They do not have the big paddle tail like some of the other swimbaits do, but it has better action than any of the other swim baits that I have used (soft plastic swimbaits).  For stripers, and sometimes black bass, I love the Luck E Strike swimbaits.  They are a bit cheaper than a lot of the others out there and work just as good.  When fishing swimbaits of any kind, I prefer a 5" model over any of the others.  I don't know why, but I always have more luck with them.

my favorite is a Matt Shad..I caught all my bass this weekend on the Bend with a 2" shad.

Shawn will probably this and reply exactly what I was using....right at this moment I can't remember exactly the name of the shad I used & I'm out of town getting KW worked on.

This Matt Lure is soft and when it's in the water it looks very realistic.  I have also used it on bedding fish...this little shad really makes those bass mad when you touch their bed with it...they gobble it up fast.  The shad is weighted in the head, so it hits the bed nose first...so it looks like the shad is after food.

And to add to my post, I almost always use a jig head instead of a swimbait hook.  I do this for the obvious reason of hookup ratios.  I have a lot better hookups with the jig heads than I do with the swimbait hook.  The only time I don't use the jig head if I am fishing in real heavy cover.  If there is cover and I think that I can break the jig head free from that cover or if I think I can swim it through the cover, I will use the jig head.  If I know that there is no way to get the bait through the cover, then I will settle with the swim bait hooks.

That may have been just a bit too drawn out, but anyway, that is what I like.

I like the NetBait version on a 5/0 SwimX hook.  Works great and gets a lot of bites with a great hookup percentage.

I like swimbaits a lot and have been trying all different brands/types. I'll probably get laughed right out of the thread for saying this, but one of my favorites is the Banjo Minnow. My mom bought me the original kit probably 13 years ago and I've always had good luck with them. Some of the biggest fish (bass and pickerel) I've caught have been on them.

I have the lake fork magic shad and have had some decent luck with them.  Haven't used many soft swim baits, but I do plan on picking up some Reaction Innovations Skinny dipper's to try out.

I have used the Money Minnow since they first came out, and still have good success with them.I use a jighead most of the time except for heavy cover.I prefer a Kalins and will go up to the 3/4 oz size for deep water ledges, works great.

I prefer the lucky-strike brand. They run a few bucks cheaper than the money minnow and they have the same detail and action. I use the belly weighted swim bait hooks with screw locks most of the time. I keep a tube of super glue handy for repairs and have some that have been glued together so many times they look like frankenstien fish, but they still work.

I just recently started using the money minnow this week and have had good success with it catching nice size bass.  However, they seem to tear pretty easy and so the long term cost of using this bait could wind up being more than I am prepared for, but it they are catching fish, then what can I do right ? :)

This will be the first year I have ever fished with soft plastic swimbaits.  I'm a Zoom guy, so I'm going to try their Swimming Super Fluke.

I've been a diehard swimbaiter for about a year now and there are a lot of good ones out there. Some of my favorites are El Grande Lures 5", Mattlures Baby Bass, Blackdog Baits Weedslinger, Huddleston 6" and 6" Weedless, and the 3:16 Mission Fish.

If you have a low ratio reel (5:4.1) the Storm soft plastic crappie and sunfish are great! if you use a higher ratio reel the lures start to roll though and a swimbait should be fished slow anyway.

For lakes with shad, I like the Yum Money minnow
For lakes without shad where panfish are the main food source, I like the ones in baby bass or bluegill patterns like these: LINK
