Got a deal on one at Bass Pro Shops, after going to the Eastern Sports & Outdoor show.
Putting it on a 2 piece 7' MH rod.
I'm going to spool it with 30 lb Fireline braid.
I fish one week a year in Canada, for pike, walleye, & bass.
Will this combo stand up to the wear?
I've seen talk of line lubes, should I use with the braid?

I own one of these reels. It's not too bad of a reel for the price. Had mine now for about three yrs and I've put it through hell. it's held up good except the spring loaded breaking system they put on it. it'll stick, so I make adjustments to the cast control knob, then it wants to work and i can't throw it three feet. I took it apart and cleaned it, still wants to be stubborn. For your one week a year it should be just fine. remember to loosen the drag and wipe it down before you put it up so it won't mess up the drag and corrode in storage. The line should be fine. if it's real clear water and the fish line shy you may want to use a leader of fluro.

Pretty stained water, maybe 3 feet down can be seen.
Used braid the past couple of years there and brought in a 34" & a 35" northern.
