Hey : Here is the inside scoop on who is making BPS reels, actual pics from inside the secret factory in Bismark North Dakota
Bass pro said that all reels are made by Pflueger and no other. So id say what they say is true just email customrer support they should tell you they did me. i just purchased one of Ganders 12 ball bearing tournament baitcasters and the reel bag and paper work was from pinnacle. Hope this helps!!
One thing that I know for sure about all this is that when you take one apart and compare it to the closest identical reel from the manufacturer that made it, Abu or Pflueger/Shakespear or Silstar/Pinacle or Daiwa, the 4 that I know for sure makes various stor ebrands, most of the internal parts will be identical and interchange with each other, assuming that it's a near copy of a name brand, which most are at least similar on the outside. The biggest difference will be cosmetic exterior parts and finish. So you can expect pretty much the same performance as the related model. Some of the reels I have seen seem to be a combination of parts from 2 or 3 different name brand reels combined to build the store brand using a base frame and store brand side plates. This is what can cause problems for the customer that buys these reels. If you get one from BPS, they will have parts available for it for a reasonable time period after the reel is discontinued or upgraded to a newer model. Cabelas, Gander MT. and other stores that sell store brand reels don't have their own parts dept. When you buy a store brand from them, your warranty card will tell you who built it that year. If it needs service in the warranty period or while it's still in production, you can send it to the brand listed on the card or order parts from them. If the reel is out of production and if it was not an exact copy of one of their reels, ie a combination of reels, then it will be very difficult to get parts. If you get a chance to talk to someone that remembers the reel, they may remember what parts you need and be able to help you. I have often ran into a brick wall so to speak on some older store brands, 5 to 6 years old, and the company that built it told me they don't keep records of part numbers or any stock of parts for those reels after they quit building them for said store. It's not at all pleasant for me or other reel mechanics to have to tell a customer that there just is not any parts available for a $150 to $200reel thats only a few years old or that there may be parts but no one there knows what parts would fit it.
