Livewell issues
« on: January 20, 2010, 02:03:22 PM »

I was fishing a tournament in November and had a couple fish in the livewell and I try to check on the fish about once and hour just to make sure all is well. When I did this check the livewell wasn't holding water. I think a have a bad valve for the pump in/out line. Also on that note does any use the oxygenator system? I have seen ads for it and it seems to be a good things but Im not sure if it is worth the investment.

Sounds like the check valve isn't closing on the line. I haven't used the oxygenator but it sounds promising.

yeah thats what I thought I will have to trouble shoot when I get home. I guess filling the well with water and seeing if it holds will do the trick.

I had that problem. It depends on how your valve is made. Mine would hold water fine until I ran. If I made a long run it would completely empty the livewell. I lost a 5 fish stringer one tournament because of it. Yeah it sucked pretty bad. I fixed the problem though. I simply put a plug in my drain hole before I launch my boat. When I pick the boat up I pull the plug. Problem solved. I just installed a pump out system on my boat so that will take care of the problem of draining my livewell while my boat stays in the water for the weekend. It also makes it easier to fill your weigh bag. ;D

Oxygen generators are well worth the investment.
