I am looking at a very clean 1999 bullet with a 225 pro max on it. very nice motor is very strong, buyer wants 15000. does this sound fair? I am about to pull the trigger but buyers guilt to strating to take hold. I am scared of potential problems with a motor capable of turning those high rpm and I am not much of a wrench. any thought would be great.

Most all motors are designed to run between 5500 to 6000 rpm without causing any problems. How he has it propped and jacked will determine that. I'm assuming you haven't taken a ride in it yet. Ask him what the exact RPM is at full throttle with the motor trimmed up right. He should know it right off the top of his head if he's been running the boat long at all.  ~shade

Nice boat but in this market a 11 year old boat should sell closer to $12-14K Depends on good electronics and such. It' all in your eye to decide but once you do don't look back. Just enjoy it. The boat is worth what YOU are willing to pay.  :)

I did ride in the boat. Very nice. Motor turned over 6000 rpm when I was driving and had some to go. It has some upgrades  on the boat. It has the racing cover on the motor, very light. A new minn kota trolling motor two new graphs one has gps and is color. I agree, I thought it was about 2 grand over current market, but I have looked for a while and there is a lot of junk to look at to find on nice ride. Just ready to stop looking and start fishing.

Sounds like it's a nice boat. If the motor is setup for more rpm by a performance company it may be balanced and blue printed and will run dependably at a little higher rpm.
There might be someone in the Outboard Motor section of the forum that can help with the motor info. http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?board=406.0

I would be happier to have a little more prop and get the RPM down if th emotor can work in that range ok.
