Bull Shoals 01/24/2010
« on: January 25, 2010, 11:08:10 AM »

Fishing was a tuff yesterday on the Bull or at least for me. Put in at Theodosia and stayed pretty close. I was trying out my new old boat. It had rained the night before so there was a warmer stained water up in the creeks. The stained water was 47F where as the clear water down the lake was around 43F. I thought there would have been a better crankbait bite up in the creeks but the bite wasnt very good. Had 2 in the creeks on Wigglewarts then went back into the clear water and had 2 on gitzits in about 20 ft deep on bluff ends. All fish were Kentuckies (Spotted Bass)

I have fished out of there a couple times. My old man lives  in Willard just north west of Springfield. Love the lake but it was always very challanging to me. Spent more time over on the "Rock" as you could always catch more.

Thanks for the report. Looking forward to more from the area :toot:

Bull is actually a really good lake anymore. The last tournament about 3 weeks ago took 17 lbs to win (5 fish limit).

Next time your up here give me a shout, Its gonna get alot better in about a month

Oh I know it can be a great lake we just never hit it right I guess, but I always loved going for the challenge. I may just have to take you up on that trip offer :-*

SlingandWind,

any fish this time of year is good.   We have some very good friends, Adrian and Katie De Silva who own a small resort on Bull Shoals.  They say the lake is BEAUTIFUL, esp in the summer and fall.  Don't know if I like the snow part though.  Will have to make a trip there to visit and fish soon

Congrats on the cold water fish
