The fishing in Alabama during February can be very tough.  Right now, the water is between 41 and 48 degrees.  It just matters which lake you are at.  Last year the fishing was not this tough because the water wasn't this cold.  The best time to fish during February will be after a warm front with some rain has came through.  This will warm the water up a few degrees and maybe turn the fish on.  I would look for the warmest and deepest water you can find.  If you are fishing for spotted bass, try to concentrate on rocks because these rocks will absorb heat from sunlight.  I would also recommend finesse fishing.  Try a 3/16 jig or shakey head with a 5" finesse worm in green pumpkin or black/blue.  However, if it is low light conditions (early in the morning) or if the wind is rippling up the water, try a jerkbait or spinnerbait and work it back on a slow retrieve.

If you catch a couple of decent days the fish will move shallow(if the suns out).I fished friday afternoon on eufaula. The sun was out and fairly warm.I caught 4 fish from 3 to 6lbs in 52 degree water less than 3 ft deep.On saturday the sun was gone and it was a lot cooler. No Fish.
