Hello all. Finally registered. Been a member of another very popular Bass board for many years. The family and I are looking to purchase our first bass boat. I've been fishing out of John boats and Crawdads for over 20 years. My kids are growing, and my dad is failing in health so I want to get a nice rig for him to be comfy in.

Been researching, and am in love with the 176xt. I almost pulled the trigger on a Tracker 175txw, but this Stratos is about 1000 times nicer. A dealer close to me has an '08 186xt with a 115 ETEC on it. The boat is a brand new leftover.

To be upfront, I live in R.I., we do not have many lakes that warrant a motor over 50hp in my opinion. In fact, about 80% of where I fish are either 9.9 or electric only. So the 115 will be MORE than enough for us. I don't fish tourneys, unless you count friendly cartopper gatherings for bragging rights.

What are some of the things to look for in a Stratos? Granted the boat is brand new, but what should I be aware of. I'm not an outboard mechanic, the dealer told me that the ETEC has a 5 year warranty. Sorry for all the questions all, just want to make an educated purchase! Thanx. Tight lines.  ~gf

Matt 5.0 Welcome to Ultimate Bass first of all  ~c~

What I would look for in a new boat etc is the warranties that comes the rig.

Warranty on the outboard motor, electric trolling motor, all of the electronics ie;  both depth finders, and any other high dollars items you might have installed.

Warranty on the boat (hull) itself.

Ask about the warranty on the trailer, whats covered and whats not.

Does the trailer come with a spare tire.

I'd ask to take it on a test drive also before buying it.  Just like a truck or car you want to see how it operates.  Once on the water check all the electronics, bilge pumps and all the gauges.

These are just off the top of my head.  I'm sure there are somethings I'm missing.
