Storage pull straps

The storage compartments on my 640 Nitro have straps that break from the elements and use. I am thinking about replacing them with the flush pull handles from BPS. This will mean drilling a hole for clearance in the hatch covers. Has any anyone done this or can you think of any problems with doing this?
