VibraShock Trailers Which Ones?
« on: February 06, 2010, 06:09:26 AM »

Greetings,

I've made the purchase of some VibraShocks.  I've not had the opportunity to use them but will on my next R&R.  I purchase the basic colors black / blue, crawfish colors and the shad colors.

I'm wanting to know which trailers would be the best for me to purchase.

I use Crawworms, Uncle Josh Pork, and some others on my jigs but I wanted to upgrade to some of these "New Soft Plastics".

The waters I'll be fishing will be Stained to Clear (Hopefully) by the time I get home.

Any suggestions.

Vibrashocks...... if you can put plastic on it, give it a try.  My favorites, creature baits and culprit worms. The lake fork hyper freak is also a very cool trailer.

I like to swim Vibrashocks more than anything, so I mostly use 3" and 4" single tail grubs, pretty much the same as I use on my spinnerbaits.
I have used small beaver plastics on them also with good results.

Buzzbait88 has an article on the UB main page with some good info  ;)

When throwing shocks I usually use the Rage chunks and Berkley 4" Chigger Craws. They are durable and have lots of action. Doc also has some trailers like they were tailor made for shocks, I haven't had a chance to try them yet but I am planning on picking some up and giving them a try.

my favorite is still the 4-6" ring worm that used to come with them a few years back.  But I have had luck on swimbaits, senkos and rage tail craws.  When I fish it like a spinnerbait I try to use swimbaits, senkos or the ringworms.  But slow rolling it on the bottom or jigging it the rage tail craw is hard to beat.

This season i'm trying a 5" kalin grub and a rage tail space monkey.
What do you guys think about removing the skirt and using a zoom horny toad type bait and buzzing it? Also using a soft swim bait such as a lake fork majic shad skirtless?
These work on a scrounger head, might work on a shock as well. :-*

the kalins grub is good as well the lake fork magic shad.  I don't think the horny toad will work on the surface, because the blade won't work properly without being submersed in water.

4" ringworm and 4 and 5 in kalins are hard to beat.  I use alot of split tails too they get some crazy action on a shock.  ;)

Do most of you use a trailer on them or does anyone use without?

I use a trailer 95% of the time.  The only time I don't use a trailer is when the forage base is very small.  Then I will trim the skirt to the back of the hook and thin it to remove bulk.

There are lots of options out there on which trailer to use.
I'm going to buy a little bit of everything youns posted and give it try.

When I bought my Vibrashocks I didn't see any of those Fogy Green baits
displayed on the website.

I checked on line again the other day and still didn't see any.

Do they still make that bait?

I always love to see these threads pop up  ;D So many soft plastics and so little time  lo I have one tip for all of you. As long as the plastic your using isn't too buoyant you can use anything. I've used 12" worms with success in the spring! A 5" kalin needs to be worked slow and a 4" can be worked a little faster where as a 3" can be burned! So depending on the speed and depth you want to achieve you can take that little bit of info and really start tweaking your Shocks for optimum effectiveness  ~shade

GotstaFish

Thanks for the tip there.

I like to flip and pitch soft plastics alot I usually Texas Rig them.

I've not updated my stock of Soft Plastic in several years so I'm taking everything
in stride here to get some ideas.

A 10"in worm as a trailer that I'll have to try.   I fish the big worms texas rigged but never
as a trailer.

Don, the Fogy Green is on the drop down lists above the photos of the shocks.

Here's what they look like.....

Gotstafish,

I can just picture that bait coming through the water.
Another tip to remember, thanks I'll have to remember that.

Steve,

Tks I'll have to get back on line when I get to the room and check it out.
BTW those are a couple good looking bass there.
