I'm transfering to Mexia Al. until July. I noticed it was right there at the Alabama River, is there any good fishing in the area?
Thanks for any help,
Joe

We fish a little up river at Miller's Ferry, near Camden. Very good fishery, big Spotted Bass and Largemouth. I've never fished that area, but it should be good.

The fishing is great both below and above the Miller's Ferry dam, especially above the dam! If you are going above the dam, that part of the river is called William B. Dannely Reservoir. The Gee's Bend and Roland Cooper State Park areas are some great places to fish in this reservoir. I like to put in at Ellis Island, which is halfway between between these two areas. I am looking forward to fishing down there again this year, but it looks like it might be a while before the water warms up and the river gets out of flood stage.

im from monroeville, and you have claiborn lock and damn, above the lock is maiborn lake and its decent fishing, then below the lock is just like any other river fishing!! this is a spot were a big boat went down, if you find it we always tear them up right there, lots of back waters, also like the fellas said millers ferry, and hit up haines island and silver creek as well

Millers Ferry is about 45 miles up the road and a great spot to catch good numbers of largemouth and some really nice spots. If it weren't 175 miles from home I would probably not still be married cause I'd be there all the time.
