24" Raker, 25" Renegade, MinnKota PD 80#, Eagle 5021 GPS at console, 640C at bow. Replaced all gauges, new seats, added gas struts and two Ranger style bars, one by the driver and one by the passenger, added casting deck w/storage hatch by console and additional hatch by bow. Keel guard, 3 AGM Cabelas batteries bought in 2008. MinnKota has auto pilot and 52" shaft, Guest 3 bank 30 amp charger. Engine maintained, tune up, carbs rebuilt and it has a new lower unit. Trailer has removable tongue, new aluminum wheels and tires, new winch and dolly wheel, spare tire, custom cover.

Here is the add and they are asking 6000 for it.   What do you think?   I contacted the seller and there is ice where he is located so taking it for a test run is out of the question.   What should I do?

One great Price!  I would at the minimum ask for receipts and hook it up to the muff's to hear it run when I went to pick it up.

I'd take it to a local dealer and have them run a compression test on the engine.  If the ratios are ok, I'd say you've found yourself a great deal!

Yep get a dealer involved. That's a great price so it's suspicious to me? But if the dealer checks it out okay (cost around $100 and you might be able to get the seller to pay or at least split it) I'd think you found a good deal.

BTW did you ask why it has a new lower unit?

I looked up the nada price for this boat and motor, it came up to 5300.  But with all the extras, it does make it a good price I think.   The only downside is that he is 8 hrs away from me, so it's going to be a pain.   I emailed him about why the new lower and if we could take it to his mechanic while I'm there, but no return yet.   He did say he would look for receipts from recent tuneup that had mechanic's comments on them.  We will see, I hope things work out and the boat is in good condition.   Thanks for the advice.

update; seller said he hit a rock with it a couple years ago, insurance covered it but whoever he had work on it was incompetent.  Found new wrench which fixed lower and currently does maintenance on this boat.

They found receipts from previous work and are trying to set up something with mechanic so when I come up we can look it over and maybe run it in his shop.
