Everyone has their own opinion, and I know why a lot of people don't like the Pinnacle reels, but I am one of the true followers of Pinnacle.  I love their reels and they have very good customer service.  The reels are not built as good as a Johnny Morris Gold Series, but the company stands behind their product.  They will replace or fix a problem with their reels if you send it back to them.  They only thing I had to pay for was shipping one way, they paid to ship it back to me and they fixed a little of the cosmetic problems that the reel had from me dropping the rod multiple times on rocks.

I will always have at least one rod with a Pinnacle on it, and yes, to answer the original question, it is a decent deal.  I would have bought it at the drop of a hat.

I didn't say all pinnacle reels are Low quality   they do make some nice reels with Alum Frames Like the Vision X series .

Like any manufacture pinnacle has some lower quality reels but none the less if you get the reel at $25 and it last you for a year or two then heck what did you lose? All my reels are pinnacle and I love them.

Dan,

I am sorry if I came off as a little rude, that was not my intention.  I was just letting him know that I love them, however, most of my friends and family think they are a crap reel.  Again, I hope you did not take my post as "smart-a$$ed", that is not what I had intended.

Sorry again,

Thanks for the replies all good points, waiting one more week to see if they drop the price again.
Do you think at the very least it would make a good flipping reel? Just lock the drag down.

Like I have said before, I think that they are great reels, plus they stand behind their products.  Trust me in saying that $25 is a good deal for any decent bait caster, and the Pinnacles are good reels. I have used mine for everything except flipping and pitching, mainly because this is the first year I have flipped and pitched at all.  I use them for catching freshwater stripers and they work great.  I have only had a problem with the one reel and it was fixed by the company.  If you get the reel and you don't like it, I will gladly buy it from you and pay for the shipping ;D

Hope that this has helped in some way...I understand that I am a little long winded, sorry ;D

Yes for 25 bucks I would grab it up even if it only lasts a little while. I purchased a Gander Mt Tournament 10 ball bearing reel on sale for 44 bucks from 100 and it is made by Pinnacle it quit working after the first 1 pound bass I caught on it so it might just be that specific reel but who knows even the really expensive reels can have 1 bad reel out of a hundred. I returned mine and got a BPS Pro Qualifier.  I would still say buy it. I just wanted to tell my story about the one I purchased. ~shade

i have three. They are good reels for the weekend fisherman.  I would not recomment touny fishing these though.  I learned how to use a baitcaster on the Platinum Plus, then i bought the Solene.  Then i upgraded to that $99 Vision XLT.  it is a nice reel.  Not the greatest in the world, but it gets the job done.  My recommendation would be to save the few extra bucks and get an Abu Garcia Revo S.  Now that is a nice Reel!

Last summer I bought two of the 13bb vision xlt reels. One crapped out and wouldnt retrieve on the last tourn of the year late October. The other is still going strong. it gets used about 3 times a week. It does have a very very slight rubbing feel when retreiving but, I am hoping a good cleaning will fix it. I really like the small alum frame that I can cradle and comfortably pinch my line.
btw..I returned and was refunded for the reel that went bad. I didn't replace simply because the wallett was fatter that week and I wanted to upgrade.  $70.00 at Walmart was a good price though

Good deal. If you ever have trouble with it just call the number on your paper work and they will assit you. I have been very impressed with the service I have gotten from pinnacle. I have 9 pinnacle reels and have had very minor problems with a couple of them. Called the company up and got the answer and parts I needed.

I have stopped buying the pinnacle reels because silstar corp. seems to discontinue parts or they are always on "backorder" and they are not sure when they will come in.  I have two of the Matrix mth-10 reels and you cant find a driveshaft in this country for them.  Once you remove the handle the threads are toast.  I paid $110 each for these reels and they are nice but I like to be able to get parts.  I have switched to Shimano over the past years due to parts availability.
