I went to Lowe's they had a pretty good selection and all of the fittings that I needed.

Might be a local thing.  I've never seen marine wire at a Lowe's around here.

 i need it to rewire my trolling moter  the trolling moter i had before was a 28lb thrust
so i went to a 42 lb thrust but i have 8 gauge wire would like to go to 6 gauge

I believe you'll be fine with any 6ga multi-strand wire.

Yes, you dont need " marine grade " wire. Any #6 wire will do, i would reccomend any outdoor, or direct bury wire, just because the insulation is a lil it thicker. And also get something like 7 or ten strand, not the multi strand like welding cable. The thicker strands make and keep a better connection and tend not to heat up.

Marine grade wire is far better in a wet environment like a boat.  Each strand is tinned to protect it from corrosion, which allows the wire to maintain it's full current capacity as it ages.

You could use just plain thhn and apy a dab of no-ox to the connection and it would still be good by the time you sell the boat or scrap it....
I have a jon boat that u used thhn for the TM and just have the wire run on the edge of the deck, not even sheltered from the elements. Been like that for 5 years and showing no signs of breaking down.
