We have been rocking them right on the wintering transition spots. The water is warming slightly, and if the weatherman isn't lieing we should see stable mid 40's by next weekend. The fish are on steep drops from 10-12'... We have been catching steady 5 fish limits right at 18-20lbs. The girls are fat, and the birds and the bees aren't to far off in the distant future.. The main bait have been the new rable rousers fished vertically. In the deeper water where the solar penetration is less, we like purple as the color vibrates a little better. Fish the rable rouser slow. Today we are going to try for the brown fish, as we feel they should be a little more active. We will be concentrating on using the new ipitty dipitty jigs we picked up at the shows. These jigs are sweet, and if you are looking for guaranteed hook sets in deeper water check them out.

I'll post a report later this afternoon, waiting for it to warm some, the rable rousers crack easy.

Seriously just got back from first real trip of the year. We were fishing normal water, meaning no hot water discharge. One largemouth in the boat, and one monster shad. Water is still about 37-38 on the flats.

Just because it's warm in your yard doesn't mean it's warm on the water. My face is wind burnt in the worst way, didn't notice it until I was in the truck. My knuckles are also nicely cracked open as well. That 10mph breeze hitting the water cools quickly... only a few more weeks and it will be flip flops and shorts.

Went out for a few hours today mainly to make sure everything was in working order. I went out of Anchor where the water temps were between 38 and 40 I did mange to catch one around 2lb. It was nice to get out and get the first fish of the year and every thing worked on the boat so I guess it was a good day.

Went out of joppatowne today. Fished the train bridge for 2 hours without a look. I talked to a fellow fishermen and he let me in on a little perch/crappie spot. So to make the day fun I did that. Ended up with 60 perch/crappie. Had a few giant perch and 3 shad. Was a great day to be out there. Water temps were 45 degrees in the coves by the end of the day. And fishmagnet it was good seeing you out there.

Good seeing you to man. We are gonna have to hook up this year I'm sure we could learn some thing from each other. We got some nibbles but zero fish in the boat. We targeted bass all day. It was great to be on the water can't wait till it warms up.

Fishrocker, me, and  a friend of ours went out to today from about 12:30 to 4:30 and got 11 keepers and I got one 17 inch Rock. We caught all our fish in the same area in 8-14 feet. As far as baits, we used the same thing Joe Essex Devoe used .  8) Water temp was 41 early and ended up 44.
It Felt so Awesome to finally get out on the water! We had a great season opener!!  ~sun

Congrats to everyone....Wish I could have made it out but still had to move the ol lady on sat.

Washed and waxed the Legend on Sunday and dropping it off today for some preventive maintenance.

Unfortunatly my cranking battery wont seem to charge. My charging lights keep going from green to red and so on and so forth. Kinda pisses me off because I just bought that battery in October so Im sure it will be going back. Trollling motor battery's are good to go and am looking forward to fishing in the rain this upcoming weekend. Just my luck!  ;D

Thanks, Joe.
I can't wait to get out there next weekend! Rain or shine I think the fish will be biting.
After finally getting out there yesterday, I was on cloud nine all day today.

Hope you get the rig fixed and can make it out there, Jay.

On board charger?
I've heard of this happening when battery charge/volts get too low... the on board charger will not recognize the battery for some reason.
You might want to try pulling the battery out of the boat and charging it with a single bank clip on automotive type charger.  Then put it back in the boat and see if things change.  I've heard of it working before.
If its a wet cell, check the water level when its out too.

I thought the same thing. I think that is exactly what the problem was! Im still going to take it back. However, Ryan had some Optima's in a display case and he is selling me the last one for crazy cheap so Im just gonna scoop that up. Return the other battery for a new one and then sell it. Should get the boat back today or maybe tomorrow. Just wanted to get it lubed up.  ~shade

I havnt been out on a boat since I took that guy out in the Skeeter when it was 32 degrees... :o

Rain or snow ill be out this weekend. Get to play with my freshly cleaned reels and new rods too..... ~c~
