Wicomico
« on: March 07, 2010, 07:08:33 AM »

I've been hearing stuff about dredging on the Wicomico messing up fishing down there. I have scheduled a club tourney for the end of August and would like to hear from you guys that are down there what the impact has been. No sense in making that far a trip to fish chocolate milk.   Thanks, John

are you referring to the dredging as in deepening the river channel, or the proposed projects they have lined up to remove the old barges up in town?

dredging shouldn't dirty the water, there should be enforcement against that!

Removing the old barges will be taking out a ton of cover for fish in town, that was my concern. I'm only down there maybe once a year and rely on those things... :(

What little I've heard is that it is for the channel I think. That was the reason for the post, was tryin to get some info from those down there. The guy I heard it from said it was muddin it up pretty good ( could be an excuse for a bad day of fishin?). Don't know. Project could be done. Ain't planning on going there till Aug, but want an auxillary site in case. Thanks, John

There should be no dredging in any tidal rivers at this time because of the perch spawning season. If you see any dredging, call NRP.  PoPo

Well Scott,
I beleive there still dredging in the Bush. I think it was maybe two weekends ago  :-\

I went down to the ramp to chill and drink a beer and some waterman were just coming out and they busted up there lower unit due to one of the pipes floating back up. Apparently, they told him they would be finished in a few weeks. I sure hope so!

Im already missing a skeg....dont want to be missing the entire lower unit....  ~shade

Talked to the owner of the marina, last day they were allowed to dredge was the end of Feb .. Cor of engineers said they couldnt because of the spawn.. They definately did alot of dredging in the Bush over the winter!
