Bayou Segnette/Lake Cataouhtche
« on: March 09, 2010, 07:22:59 AM »

My teenage son and his HS buddy fished Lake Cataoutche Saturday.  Weather and temp. was beautiful.  They fished the tank pond area along with 60-80 other boats.  They ended up with 9 keepers caught mainly on small soft plastic worms or craws.  A lot of tournament people were around them and everyone found it was tough to get bit.  Someone is passing out calendars to those fish so they can figure out when the weekend happens.  If you don't have to fish weekends, week days are producing some nice fish.  They launched at Pier 90 with their aluminum flat and went into some very skinny water, but skinny wasn't happening either.  They went back out into the pond areas to catch fish.  I heard that Sunday was much better?!?!  Hope this is of some help.  Later....

It should be getting right. I think by this weekend the whole state will be on.

A bunch of our club guy's fished the federation tourney down there this past weekend.  The best we did was 11th.  Had 4 of them in the top 25 but they all said it was tough and reported a 19+ stringer coming in on Sunday.

It's definitely happening in the Tank Ponds.  Can't say too much else, but don't let the crowds scare you off.  There are some monsters in there.

E,
Tell your son to go to the back of the Tank Ponds.  Shallow getting in, but once he's there......

It's the Southwestern portion of the lake.  There are some huge wooden barriers that separate the tank ponds from the rest of the lake.
