Looking to start a dedicated frog set-up, rod suggestions?
« on: March 09, 2010, 05:08:20 PM »

hey guys, looking for a rod to pair with my tour edition. I was fishing 50 pound power pro on a cheap MH rod last yr and did pretty well, and loved the action :) So I'm gonna upgrade the rod and keep the reel spooled with power pro as a dedicated froggin set up. Ill be throwing both buzz frogs and plastic frogs, and was wondering what u guys could reccomend for rods, id be looking in the $150ish range. thanks for all the input and opinions!

I just recently bought a Mojo flippin' rod for well......um flippin'. But since its spooled up with 65 lb PP, has a 7.1 Curado, and is Heavy action I think I am going to use it as a frog rod as well. I can't really tell you how well it performs on the water (yet) but in my basement it works pretty good  lo.

It's a little more, but the 7'4" Extra Heavy fast action rod by Rapsody Fishing is a Awesome frog rod, that will pull any fish out of any cover.

I have a Rogue BB 796 that I built for other applications, but I've discovered that it makes a great frog rod, too.  If you are interested in a custom rod, just let me know.

And to further muddy the waters, I've been using a Citrus Stick 7' 3" Frog rod that has a great action, plenty of backbone, a very fast tip.  It slings a frog well and is priced right at $155.00.

The Powell 735MH Frog stick. I use it, sell it, and love it!

I must agree.... It doesn't get anymore comfortable than this rod. The weight and balance are like nothing I have felt before. Also one of our site sponsors sells them, BTD check them out http://www.basstackledepot.com/dobyns-rods.aspx If you purchase please consider supporting those that support this site.
