What would you use?
« on: March 09, 2010, 08:25:21 PM »

I just bought a boat that needed some work done to it as a project. I have put new carpet, new seats, rewired pretty much everything, put on a new trolling motor, and re built the motor. It's now water ready but the previous owner left it sitting out in the elements for quiet some time so there is a lot of oxidation build up on the boat and it just doesn't look good. I don't expect it to look new or anything, but what would yall suggest that I use to remove the oxidation and restore at least some shine to the boat? I have a buffer to work with and am planning on waxing it after I restore it. Thanks in advance for the advice. Happy Fishing!!

Do a search on oxidation, there have been several threads on the subject with lots of info in them.

Your best bet would be to wet sand it with 1200 grit sandpaper and follow up with a good cleaner wax.
