Emiquon Preserve
« on: March 12, 2010, 02:05:59 PM »

I have been hearing and reading a lot of great things about the Emiquon Preserve in Fulton County.  I guess the fishing is unreal!  Has anyone had any experience fishing there and if so what lures worked for you?  I want to see if it's as good as advertised, because if it is I will be in the market for a john boat (without motor, you can't even have one on your boat on Emiquon.  It's trolling motor only.)

Everybody I talked to said its incredible fishing.  It is very early in its creation so there arent a TON of huge fish in there yet.... but there are still some very nice ones to be had.  Its trolling motor only yes.  I have been thinking of picking up a john boat for a few reasons, but mainly just for this lake.  I would love to be able to put my ranger in the water there, but I guess the motor restriction is a good thing as it helps keep the pressure super low.  I WILL make it out there sometime this year.  I cant imagine this lake in 3-5 years if the pressure remains like it is.    Its going to be one hell of a bass factory.

If this article doesnt get you excited, than I cant imagine what would.

I might try and hit it in a couple weeks with the canoe.  But that would all depend on the wind.  I might also wait till late may and try to get some on buzzfrogs.  That looks like a great place to try them.

Yeah totally jeremy.  Its all relatively shallow with tons of vegetation to buzz right over.  I am making a point of getting out there sometime within the next month or so.  Its officially on my to-do list.
