New Reel
« on: March 13, 2010, 07:08:53 PM »

Just bought a new reel!  I needed something to go on my BPS Crankin' Stick and Bass Pro had their sale going on.  I wanted to stay away from the Walmart stuff (I usually don't, but wanted a reel that would last at least a year and would do it's job.  I was thinking about the Revo that is around $130, but decided to use the extra money for bait and bought a BPS Extreme.  It was not my first choice, but they were out of all the the Pro Qualifiers in the lower gear ratio reels.

I haven't got to fish with the Extreme yet, but I did take it in the back yard and cast it a few times and I have to say that I was really impressed with it.  I can cast it further than any other reel I have!  It reels smoother, casts farther, and is just a really good reel all around.  I just wanted everyone to know that I think that the Extreme is a great reel.

Thanks for reading.

Congrats on the new reel....I've heard alot of good things about the BPS extreme so sounds like you made a good choice.

Yeah, I have 4 reels that I bought from walmart.  One spinning reel and 3 baitcasters.  I love them all, but was wanting something that I could depend on all the time.  The Pinnacles I have have been great reels, but they have had their moments.

I will always have a Pinnacle in the boat (or on the bank), but I was wanting something in a lower gear ratio and something that would be dependable.  I think that I found it in the Extreme, but time will tell.

I did take it to a small farm pond the other day and found that I love it.  Very smooth when casting and reeling.  I was casting a small X-Rap with ease farther than I can usually cast larger and heavier lures with other setups.  Can't wait to really get out there and try it out!
