I got my first green bass of 2010 today. the ice went off my brothers pond on Thursday. So I hit it today, I worked it first with a worm and had no luck. I then switched to a floating rattle trap that was red. 2nd cast I caught this 12 3/4" bass. It smashed the trap, I thought for sure it was going to be a northern with how hard it hit.

thats awesom! I'm dying to get it out. Still some ice in the backwaters, but it can't be very good anymore. Temps are supposed to be in the 50's all week so hopefully by next weekend we'll have some open water for bassing.

No matter how big or small that first fish of the year is, its always good to get that "first fish" of the year out of the way

Congrats on #1 for the year! I love to fish ponds. I'd rather be on the river but, I have a lot of fun on ponds.

I may hit the lake for the first time in the last 7 months on Fri/Sat and will be looking for any fish willing to bite, lol
