I was told that.. i just remember there was some good fishing in that area,i know there have been many tournaments there fish released there over the past years,I guess i will have to give the red a try i have a gps unit but i dont have a very good map i have a navonics and also map create loaded on gps but still not specific. have been told that one must be careful before you run out on the river. Is there any areas that i should try near the Red river South ramp.If so how far down river is clarks marina and is it safe for me to run it if i am not familiar with river any advice

Should be just fine running south but as always on a river be on the look out for chit floating along.

Clarks area is a like 2/3rds the way from RRS to lock and dam 5  you will see two cuts on your left than 200/300 yards or so of bank/trees also on your left than another cut on your left.  The 2nd is the north way in to clarks but have not been on it in a while and it was silting in bad the 3rd cut is the south way in to clarks also silting in.  Take the 3rd cut run by the rocks and I'd set down before the opening in the rocks now on your right "this is the way from clarks to dozer point" go slow to see how much the sand bar has moved in and go all the way to the stumps before turning left.  People used to launch from clarks get on pad at the stumps and run to the dozer opening but the sand bar had moved out so far that a few folks got hung up out there so just hug the rocks and hug the stumps and you should be good.

Also when/if you run into Caspi a sand bar runs from the rocks dang near all the way to the stumps about 2/3rds the way back to the boat run through the stumps.  As you run in there the rocks will be on your right/stumps on the left and you will see a big spot in the rocks has washed away set down and move over to the stumps watch your graph and once it drops off again you should be able to get back up on pad and run to the left turn into the stumps to take you to the back.

Good luck when in doubt idle.   :-*

Seems like they would put a lock box there and let folks launch anyway :-*
